Pianist
Matthias Gräff-Schestag devotes himself primarily to chamber music
and song. After his studies at the University of Mainz he continued
in Piano at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt am Main. There he majored
in chamber music and song interpretation with Prof. Hartmut Höll,
Rainer Hoffmann and Joachim Volkmann.
During
his studies, but also by participating in numerous chamber music and
song interpretation master classes (Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Dr.
Erik Werba, Brigitte Fassbaender, Gérard Souzay, Dalton Baldwin),
Matthias Gräff-Schestag was able to acquire a broad repertoire
encompassing all styles and periods, while concentrating especially
on song literature from the romantic and modern classical periods.
Matthias
Gräff-Schestag accompanies singers of international reputation and
works with well known instrumental soloists. He appears frequently
in concert in Germany and abroad and is to be heard on many radio,
TV and CD recordings.
Matthias
Gräff-Schestag has headed the chamber music and song interpretation
department at the Akademie für Tonkunst in Darmstadt since 1987 and
is Assistant Professor for Chamber Music at the Musikhochschule
Frankfurt.
